Founded in 1875 in Le Brassus, Switzerland, Audemars Piguet is one of the few remaining independent, family-controlled haute horlogerie manufactures. Known for pioneering the ultra-thin movement and, most consequentially, introducing the Royal Oak in 1972 — a Gerald Genta-designed luxury sports watch that redefined the category. AP occupies the apex of independent Swiss watchmaking alongside Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin.
