Two size families run the market: classic 36mm (1803, 18238, 128238, 128239, 128345) and the 40/41mm (218238, 228348). Every case is solid 18k yellow, white, or Everose — no steel exists here. Diamond bezels (RBR) and gem-set dials carry the top premiums; fluted or smooth bezels hold value cleaner. President bracelet condition — end-links, clasp, stretch — moves the number hard. Dial originality is everything: untouched stone, lacquer, and factory gem dials trade up. Vintage 1803/18238 is a patina play; current 128xxx/228xxx gives you Cal. 3255 and open service access.
First gen (1956–c.1977): 1802–1808, slim cases, gilt dials. Second gen (c.1977–2000): 18038/18238, quickset added. Modern (2000s–present): 118xxx/218xxx, then current 128xxx/228xxx with Cal. 3255 and 40mm sizing.
