Rolex Milgauss — $11,500 – $13,700

The Milgauss is Rolex's antimagnetic specialist — built 1956 for lab and engineering use, rated to 1,000 gauss, marked by the lightning-bolt seconds hand and, on the GV, a green sapphire crystal. Niche, a little eccentric, and now discontinued — which is the trade angle.

Buying a Rolex Milgauss

Current-gen Milgauss is 40mm Oystersteel, Cal. 3131 in a soft-iron Faraday cage. Two refs split at the crystal: 116400 (standard sapphire, black or white dial) and 116400GV (green 'glace verte' sapphire that defines the modern model). Rolex quietly cut both c.2023, so full set — box, papers, card — matters more for resale. Orange-dial GV pulls collector premiums. Inspect crystals; the green is a factory-only replacement.

Generations & references

1956 ref 6541 (honeycomb dial, matching bezel); refined ref 1019; ~20-year hiatus from 1988; the 2007 revival — 116400 and 116400GV — became the definitive and final modern era.

Pricing

At $11,500 for steel, pricing reflects a recently discontinued ref finding its post-production floor — rational value with scarcity upside ahead. Current live range: $11,500 – $13,700. Prices shown are the full card price; bank-wire payment saves about 3.4%.

Model names, references and specifications are referenced from the official Rolex Newsroom (www.rolex.com). Trademarks and product imagery rights remain with the manufacturer; product photography shown is of our own inventory.

Buying a Rolex Milgauss in Los Angeles

This Rolex Milgauss stock sits on a working wholesale desk at 650 S. Hill St., in the middle of the downtown Los Angeles jewelry district — not in a boutique and not in someone else’s showcase. We own what is listed, which is why the number on the page is a trade number rather than a retail one.

Every listing carries two figures: the card price, which is the price shown, and the wire price, which takes roughly 3.4% off. If you are local you are welcome to come and see the piece on the bench before you buy — call the desk first and it will be out and ready. If you are not, it goes out overnight and fully insured.
